Church Growth in Cambodia |
Location: Cambodia
The three year church planting course run by AFCI Cambodia has trained over 300 pastors in the past 12 years. The result has been over 300 churches planted and many thousands have placed their faith in Christ. Every year more and more people are being baptised, and regional baptism events are now scheduled on a regular basis. At these events, several of the new churches come together on a specific day to baptise all the new Christians and hold a joint celebration of their newly found faith.
Recently one regional event took place at the Romlich Reservoir in Kampot Province, Cambodia. At this event 400 new Christians were baptised. Because of the torrential rain that day, some country roads were too damaged totravel, so 150 of the candidates could not come and will be baptised at a future time.
God graciously surprised the AFCI team with Mr. Rithypharn, the governor of Chomkiri District who received the word so sincerely and confessed Christ openly in front of all the believers who were present. Barnabas Mam, AFCI Regional Director for Asia wrote:
“I found out that he had been reached by his only sister Chealee in Australia who hosted Boury and me at her home during our last visit to Sydney. I thanked God for that powerful connection.
"All the other officers who joined his company also accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Everyone shared with me how they were touched by the love and care manifested by the local believers in their respective villages. These 400 newly baptised believers are the fruit of obedience and faithfulness shown by six church planters of the Living Hope in Christ Church Association who have been trained at our Institute of Church Planting in Cambodia.”
